The top midwives in the United States are not all that different than the top midwife in England, according to a new study by the Women’s Medical Center of Pennsylvania.
But, for midwives who work in the U.S., the difference can be more dramatic.
According to the new study, published in the Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology & Gynaecology, the most expensive midwives working in the nation earn between $200,000 and $300,000 per year.
Midwives who earn the highest salary in the country earn over $1 million.
While midwives at other hospitals can earn upwards of $100,000, the median salary for a midwife working in Pittsburgh is $200K.
According, to the study, the salary of a midwifery associate is more than twice the salary for an associate at a private hospital.
For midwives and physicians, the average salary is $155,000.
The study looked at salaries from the U of PA’s Midwiferies Association and compared them to those of the top 30 U.s hospitals.
Midwifries who earn less than $150,000 annually earn less money than midwives earning more than $200k per year and doctors who earn more than or equal to $300k per years.
The highest paid midwives earn nearly $100 million per year, while midwives making more than that amount make more than the average physician and midwives with a bachelor’s degree.
Midwife salaries also vary depending on the state in which they work.
In the U-S., where midwives earn more per year than any other country, the top performing hospitals are in the Midwest.
In contrast, the bottom performing hospitals in the midwest are in New England, West Virginia, and Pennsylvania.
Pennsylvania midwomens earn nearly one-third of what midwives from Texas and New York do in the same state.
In addition, midwives on average make $300 more per month than those working at the top hospitals.
A recent report from the American College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (ACOG) showed that the median wage for a female midwife is about $200 a month less than that of a male midwife.
The ACOG reported that there are more than 1,300 midwives across the country, and the median wages for midwoms in those states ranged from $150 to $175 per month.
The midwives paid the most are located in the Northeast, Midwest, and West, according the study.
The median wage of a nurse midwife, or a nurse practitioner, in the US is $210 per month, while the median pay of a physician midwife or a physician was $150 per month in the report.
The ACOG also reported that doctors are paid more than midwitches because they make more per patient, as well as have more training and supervision.
